Cook the pasta shells according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

Dice the ham. Preheat the oven to 200°C.

Make a roux: melt the butter in a pot, add flour in a stream while stirring. Cook for 1 minute.

Gradually pour in the milk while whisking to avoid lumps. Cook for 5 minutes until thickened.

Add the pasta and ham to the sauce. Mix and pour into a baking dish.
Top with Gruyère shreds. Bake at 200°C for 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
