Rendang Daging
A rich red curry of slowly braised beef in a paste of coconut and Indonesian spices. An Indonesian classic with deep, enchanting flavors.

Ingredients
- 800 g Beef for braising
- 400 ml Coconut milk
- 4 piece Red onions
- 5 clove Garlic
- 30 g Fresh ginger
- 3 piece Red chilies
- 10 g Galangal
- 2 stalk Lemongrass
- 1 tsp Ground turmeric
- 3 tbsp Coconut oil
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Cane sugar
- 1 tsp Salt
Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the rendang paste by blending red onions, garlic, ginger, chilies, galangal, and lemongrass with 100 ml of coconut milk.
Step 2
Heat the coconut oil in a Dutch oven and brown the beef cut into cubes.
Step 3
Add the rendang paste and stir for 2 minutes.
Step 4
Pour in the remaining coconut milk, add turmeric, soy sauce, and sugar.
Step 5
Cover and simmer for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
