Lamprais
A Sri Lankan dish of rice mixed with spices and meat, wrapped in a banana leaf and steamed. A festive classic that is truly delicious.

Ingredients
- 300 g Ground lamb
- 300 g White rice
- 2 piece Onion
- 4 clove Garlic
- 1 tbsp Fresh ginger
- 2 piece Red chili
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp Cumin
- 1 tsp Ground coriander
- 150 ml Coconut milk
- 4 piece Banana leaf
- 2 piece Egg
- 2 tbsp Peanut oil
- 1 tsp Salt
Instructions
Step 1
Cook the white rice according to package directions, then let it cool.
Step 2
Sauté the onion, garlic and ginger in oil for 2 minutes.
Step 3
Add the ground lamb and spices, cook for 5 minutes, stirring.
Step 4
Pour in the coconut milk and cook for 8 minutes until the meat is well cooked.
Step 5
Mix the cooked rice with the meat and beaten eggs, season with salt.
Step 6
Fill the banana leaves with the mixture, fold and tie with string.
Step 7
Steam for 20 minutes until the leaves are well cooked.
