Traditional Algerian semolina cookies filled with date paste. A sweet and fragrant treat perfect with coffee or tea.

Ingredients
- 300 g Fine semolina
- 250 g Date paste
- 150 g Melted butter
- 100 ml Plain yogurt
- 50 g Powdered sugar
- 5 g Baking powder
- 2 g Vanilla
- 24 piece Whole cloves
- 300 ml Oil for frying
Instructions
Step 1
Mix together the semolina, sugar, baking powder, and vanilla.
Step 2
Incorporate the melted butter and yogurt to form a dough.
Step 3
Form small pieces of dough and gently make an indent in each to fill with date paste.
Step 4
Place a whole clove on top of each cake.
Step 5
Deep fry the makroudh in hot oil until golden brown.
