Preheat oven to 180°C. Cook the pasta shells in boiling salted water according to package directions.

Make a roux: melt the butter and stir in the flour constantly for 2 minutes.

Gradually pour in 400 ml of the pasta cooking water while stirring to prevent lumps. Cook for 2 minutes.
