Preheat oven to 200°C. Bring salted water to a boil and cook the pasta 2 minutes less than package instructions. Drain.

Mince the onion and garlic. Heat the oil in a skillet and sauté for 3 minutes.

Add the canned tomatoes and simmer for 5 minutes. Season to taste.

Pour the pasta into a buttered baking dish. Pour the tomato sauce over it. Top generously with grated cheese.
