French Onion Soup with Gratin
A comforting French classic soup with carrots, crusty bread, and Gruyère cheese broiled until golden. A hearty and delicious favorite.

Ingredients
- 250 g Carrots
- 200 g Potatoes
- 80 g Gruyère
- 30 g Butter
- 1 L Water
- 100 g Stale bread
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Step 2
Peel and chop the carrots and potatoes into pieces.
Step 3
Melt the butter in a pot and add the vegetables.
Step 4
Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Simmer for 20 minutes until tender.
Step 5
Partially blend the soup for a thick texture.
Step 6
Pour into bowls, top with bread slices and grated Gruyère.
Step 7
Broil for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
