French Onion Soup with Toasted Bread
A comforting soup made with caramelized onions and toasted bread, a simplified version of the classic French dish. Perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients
- 2 slices sandwich bread
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 10 g butter
- 600 ml water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 pinch pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Toast the bread slices in the oven at 180°C for 3-4 minutes and set aside.
Step 2
Heat the oil and butter in a saucepan.
Step 3
Finely chop the onions and sauté them over medium heat for 15 minutes until caramelized.
Step 4
Add the water and season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Step 5
Serve the soup in bowls with the toasted bread slices.
