French Onion and Gruyère Soup
A comforting French soup with toasted bread and melted Gruyère on top, perfect for a winter evening.

Ingredients
- 500 ml Water
- 2 slice White bread
- 80 g Gruyère
- 20 g Butter
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Melt the butter in a pot and add 300ml of water. Bring to a boil.
Step 2
Add 200ml more water, season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.
Step 3
Meanwhile, toast the bread slices in the oven at 180°C for 5 minutes.
Step 4
Pour the soup into bowls, place a slice of toasted bread on top, then cover generously with grated Gruyère.
Step 5
Microwave or bake for 2 minutes to melt the cheese.
