French Onion Soup with Gruyère
A classic and comforting soup topped with melted cheese. Perfect for cold evenings.

Ingredients
- 4 pieces Onions
- 1 l Water
- 100 g Gruyère
- 4 slices Bread
- 30 g Butter
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Peel and thinly slice the onions.
Step 2
Melt the butter in a large pot and sauté the onions over medium heat for 10-12 minutes until lightly caramelized.
Step 3
Pour in boiling water, season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 10 minutes.
Step 4
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Pour the soup into oven-safe bowls.
Step 5
Place a slice of bread on each bowl and cover generously with grated Gruyère.
Step 6
Bake for 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
