South African Sosaties
South African pork skewers marinated in a sweet and spicy apricot mixture, served with homemade peanut sauce.
Ingredients
- 600 g Pork for grilling
- 100 g Dried apricot
- 1 medium Red onion
- 3 clove Garlic
- 2 cm Fresh ginger
- 4 tbsp Peanut butter
- 3 tbsp Honey
- 2 tbsp White vinegar
- 2 tbsp Soy sauce
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric
- 200 ml Broth
- 1 fruit Lemon
- 2 tbsp Oil
Instructions
Step 1
Cut the pork into 3 cm cubes and halve the apricots.
Step 2
Prepare the marinade: mix honey, vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, ginger, oil, chili powder, turmeric, salt, and pepper.
Step 3
Marinate the pork and apricots for 20 minutes (or longer in the refrigerator).
Step 4
Thread the pork and apricots alternately onto skewers with red onion pieces.
Step 5
Grill over medium-high heat or in a 200°C oven for 12-15 minutes, turning regularly.
Step 6
Meanwhile, prepare the sauce: pour the marinade into a pot, add peanut butter and broth, simmer for 5 minutes, then add lemon juice.
Step 7
Serve the sosaties with warm peanut sauce.
