Sinigang (Philippine Tamarind Shrimp Broth)
A sour and savory Philippine soup made with tamarind, shrimp, root vegetables, and radish greens. A nutritious and comforting treat.

Ingredients
- 500 g Shrimp
- 3 tbsp Tamarind paste
- 250 g Daikon radish
- 250 g Sweet potato
- 150 g Radish greens (or spinach)
- 200 g Taro
- 1 piece Red onion
- 4 clove Garlic
- 2 piece Green long chili
- 1000 ml Fish broth
- 2 tbsp Fish sauce
- 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
Instructions
Step 1
Cut daikon radish, sweet potato, and taro into batons.
Step 2
Sauté minced garlic and onion in the oil.
Step 3
Pour in the broth and tamarind paste, mix well.
Step 4
Add radish, sweet potato, and taro, bring to a boil.
Step 5
Simmer for 12 minutes until vegetables are nearly cooked.
Step 6
Add the shrimp and cook for 3 minutes.
Step 7
Add radish greens, chilies, and fish sauce, cook for 2 minutes.
Step 8
Serve hot in bowls.
