Indian-Style Rice with Tomatoes and Peppers
A flavorful rice simmered with tomatoes, peppers, onions, and spices like turmeric and cumin. A complete and colorful dish inspired by Indian cuisine.
Ingredients
- 200 g White rice
- 300 g Tomatoes
- 1 piece Red bell pepper
- 1 piece Onion
- 2 cloves Garlic
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 0.5 tsp Turmeric
- 0.5 tsp Cumin
- 400 ml Water
- à volonté pinch Salt
- à volonté pinch Pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Peel and mince the onion and garlic. Dice the bell pepper. Crush the tomatoes or use canned crushed tomatoes.
Step 2
Heat the oil in a pot and sauté the onion and garlic for 3 minutes.
Step 3
Add the bell pepper and cook for 2 minutes, then add the spices (turmeric and cumin) and mix well.
Step 4
Pour in the tomatoes and simmer for 3 minutes.
Step 5
Add the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then cover and cook for 15 minutes on low heat.
Step 6
Turn off the heat, let rest for 3 minutes, then fluff with a fork and season to taste.
