Baked Penne with Three Cheeses and Ham
A French-Italian classic: baked pasta with ham, Gruyère, and a simple béchamel sauce. Indulgent and comforting.
Ingredients
- 300 g Penne
- 150 g Ham
- 150 g Gruyère
- 3 tbsp Butter
- 3 tbsp Flour
- 400 ml Milk
- 1 l Water
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
Step 2
Boil salted water and cook the penne 2 minutes less than the package directions (it will finish cooking in the oven).
Step 3
Prepare a béchamel: melt 3 tbsp butter, add the flour, stir for 1 minute, then gradually pour in the milk while whisking.
Step 4
Let the béchamel thicken for 2 minutes, season with salt and pepper, and stir in 100g of grated Gruyère.
Step 5
Cut the ham into small dice.
Step 6
In a baking dish, combine the drained penne, ham, and béchamel.
Step 7
Top with the remaining 50g of Gruyère and bake for 15 minutes until golden.
