Penne with Flour and Butter (Pasta al Burro Semplice)
An ultra-simple and comforting recipe: penne tossed with butter and a touch of flour to create a silky light sauce. Ready in 20 minutes.

Ingredients
- 200 g Penne
- 40 g Butter
- 1 tbsp Flour
- 100 ml Water (pasta cooking water)
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the penne al dente (about 12 minutes).
Step 2
Meanwhile, melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
Step 3
Sprinkle the flour over the butter and stir quickly to form a light paste. Cook for 1 minute.
Step 4
Add some pasta cooking water (100 ml) and stir to create a smooth sauce.
Step 5
Drain the penne and add it to the sauce. Toss well and season with salt and pepper.
