Pão de Queijo - Brazilian Cheese Balls
Light and airy Brazilian cheese balls made with tapioca flour, cheese, and eggs. A traditional snack perfect for appetizers or breakfast.
Ingredients
- 200 g tapioca flour
- 150 g minas cheese
- 2 whole eggs
- 120 ml milk
- 60 g butter
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.25 tsp white pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat oven to 200°C. Finely grate the minas cheese.
Step 2
In a saucepan, bring the milk and butter to a boil together.
Step 3
Pour the hot mixture over the tapioca flour in a bowl and stir quickly.
Step 4
Let cool for 5 minutes, then incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well.
Step 5
Add the grated cheese, salt, and white pepper, mixing until you have a smooth dough.
Step 6
Shape into balls using two spoons or damp hands, place on a greased baking sheet.
Step 7
Bake for 15-20 minutes until the balls are golden and slightly puffed.
Step 8
Serve hot or at room temperature with coffee or fresh juice.
