Sweet and Savory French Toast with Ham, Cheese, and Caramelized Apples

Ingredients
- 4 slice Bread
- 100 g Ham
- 80 g Gruyère
- 2 piece Apple
- 2 piece Eggs
- 100 ml Milk
- 3 tbsp Brown sugar
- 40 g Butter
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Peel and thinly slice the apples. Caramelize them in a skillet with 15g butter and 2 tbsp brown sugar for 6 minutes. Set aside.
Step 2
Cut the bread slices in half lengthwise. Fill each half with ham and grated Gruyère.
Step 3
Reassemble the sandwiches with the filled bread. Beat the eggs with milk, salt, and pepper.
Step 4
Quickly dip the sandwiches in the egg-milk mixture on both sides.
Step 5
Brown in the skillet with 25g butter, 2-3 minutes per side over medium heat. Serve with the caramelized apples.
