Makroudh with Dates
A traditional Algerian cookie—sweet and crumbly—filled with date paste and almonds. Perfect with tea or coffee.

Ingredients
- 300 g Wheat flour
- 200 g Fine semolina
- 150 g Butter
- 300 g Pitted dates
- 100 g Ground almonds
- 2 piece Eggs
- 50 g Sugar
- 10 g Baking powder
- 80 ml Olive oil
- 100 ml Honey
- 30 ml Orange blossom water
Instructions
Step 1
Mix the flour, semolina, and baking powder in a large bowl.
Step 2
Add the softened butter and eggs, then knead until a homogeneous dough forms.
Step 3
Crush the dates and mix with the ground almonds for the filling.
Step 4
Shape small dough sticks and fill them with the date mixture.
Step 5
Place on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 180°C oven for 15 minutes.
Step 6
Dip the warm cookies in a warm syrup (honey diluted with orange blossom water).
