Knackwurst and Sauerkraut German Style
An authentic German specialty pairing juicy knackwurst sausage with fermented sauerkraut and traditional German spices. Hearty and satisfying.

Ingredients
- 4 piece Knackwurst
- 800 g Sauerkraut
- 2 piece Onions
- 150 g Smoked bacon
- 2 piece Green apples
- 400 ml Chicken broth
- 200 ml Dry white wine
- 10 g Juniper berries
- 15 g Juniper berries
- 2 piece Bay leaf
- 100 g Whole grain mustard
- 30 g Butter
- 5 g Salt and pepper
- 700 g Potatoes
Instructions
Step 1
Cut the smoked bacon into strips and brown them in a Dutch oven.
Step 2
Slice the onions and sauté them with the bacon.
Step 3
Add the drained sauerkraut and stir well.
Step 4
Pour in the white wine and broth, add the juniper, juniper berries and bay leaves.
Step 5
Place the knackwurst on top of the sauerkraut and cover.
Step 6
Simmer gently for 25-30 minutes.
Step 7
Cut the apples into wedges and add 5 minutes before the end.
Step 8
Serve hot with whole grain mustard on the side.
