Three-Cheese Penne Gratin
A generously cheesy gratin with pasta, ham, and creamy sauce. A comforting classic that takes a bit longer but remains straightforward.
Ingredients
- 400 g Penne
- 250 g Ham
- 200 g Gruyère
- 200 ml Heavy cream
- 50 g Butter
- 40 g Flour
- 800 ml Water
- 150 g Mozzarella
- 80 g Parmesan
- à volonté pinch Salt
- à volonté pinch Pepper
- une pincée pinch Nutmeg
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Cook the penne in boiling salted water according to package directions.
Step 2
Make a roux: melt the butter in a skillet and add the flour. Cook for 2 minutes, stirring.
Step 3
Gradually add the heavy cream and 300 ml of pasta cooking water, stirring to prevent lumps.
Step 4
Cook the sauce for 3 minutes. Add 100 g grated Gruyère and torn mozzarella. Season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
Step 5
Dice the ham and stir into the sauce.
Step 6
Drain the pasta and transfer to a buttered baking dish. Cover with the cheese sauce and mix well.
Step 7
Sprinkle with the remaining Gruyère and Parmesan. Bake for 15 minutes until golden brown.
