Bread and Gruyère Gratin with Vegetables
A creative gratin made with day-old bread, broccoli, carrots and melted cheese. A comforting and budget-friendly French classic.

Ingredients
- 250 g sandwich bread
- 200 g broccoli
- 150 g carrot
- 100 g Gruyère
- 30 g butter
- 200 ml water
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Cut the bread into cubes and the vegetables into small pieces.
Step 2
Butter a baking dish and arrange the bread cubes alternately with the raw vegetables.
Step 3
Pour the water slowly between the layers. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 4
Grate the Gruyère and sprinkle generously over the top. Add a few small pieces of butter.
Step 5
Bake for 20-22 minutes until the gratin is golden and crispy.
