Simplified Potato and Carrot Gratin
A reinvented French classic made with just potatoes and carrots. Creamy, comforting, and perfect as a side dish.

Ingredients
- 800 g potato
- 300 g carrot
- 50 g butter
- 400 ml water
- 5 g salt
- 2 g pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Peel and thinly slice the potatoes and carrots using a knife or mandoline.
Step 2
Butter a baking dish and arrange the slices in alternating layers of potatoes and carrots.
Step 3
Pour water between the layers and season generously with salt and pepper.
Step 4
Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven at 190°C for 40 minutes.
Step 5
Remove the aluminum foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to lightly brown.
