Soft Chocolate-Orange Cake with Caramelized Sugar Crust
An indulgent Italian-style cake combining the richness of dark chocolate with the brightness of orange, topped with a golden caramelized sugar crust. An elegant and delicious dessert.
Ingredients
- 250 g Dark chocolate
- 2 piece Oranges
- 150 g Butter
- 200 g Sugar
- 100 g Flour
- 4 piece Eggs
- 5 g Baking powder
- 2 g Salt
- 30 ml Honey
- 50 g Ground almonds
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare a buttered baking pan.
Step 2
Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler with the honey.
Step 3
Separate egg whites from yolks and beat the yolks with 150g of sugar.
Step 4
Mix the melted chocolate into the yolks, then add flour, baking powder, ground almonds and orange zest.
Step 5
Whip the egg whites until stiff peaks form and gently fold into the batter.
Step 6
Pour into the baking pan and sprinkle with 50g of sugar for the caramelized crust.
Step 7
Bake for 35-40 minutes until the center is still slightly soft.
