Beef and Egg Rice Bowl (Gyudon)
A quick Japanese classic: caramelized beef with onions served over a bed of white rice topped with a raw egg that cooks from the heat.

Ingredients
- 300 g Beef for braising
- 250 g Cooked white rice
- 1 piece Yellow onion
- 2 piece Eggs
- 3 tbsp Soy sauce
- 2 tbsp Mirin
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 100 ml Dashi
- 1 leaf Nori
Instructions
Step 1
Thinly slice the onion and beef.
Step 2
Heat a skillet and stir-fry the beef until browned, then remove.
Step 3
In the same skillet, add the onion and cook for 3 minutes.
Step 4
Pour in the dashi, soy sauce, mirin, and sugar. Add the beef back and simmer for 4 minutes.
Step 5
Divide the rice between bowls and pour the beef and sauce over top.
Step 6
Crack a raw egg onto each portion and garnish with nori.
