Baked Pasta Shells with Ham and Béchamel
A rich and creamy gratin: pasta shells coated in generous béchamel, ham and Gruyère shavings. A comforting French classic.

Ingredients
- 350 g Pasta shells
- 150 g Ham
- 80 g Gruyère shavings
- 60 g Grated Gruyère
- 40 g Butter
- 30 g Flour
- 500 ml Milk
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 pinch Pepper
- 1 pinch Nutmeg
Instructions
Step 1
Cook the pasta shells al dente in salted water, drain and set aside.
Step 2
Prepare the béchamel: melt the butter, add the flour, cook for 1 minute while stirring.
Step 3
Gradually add the milk while stirring continuously until the sauce is smooth and thick.
Step 4
Stir in the Gruyère shavings and diced ham. Season with salt, pepper and a pinch of nutmeg.
Step 5
Mix the pasta with the sauce and pour into a baking dish.
Step 6
Sprinkle with grated Gruyère and bake at 200°C for 12-15 minutes until golden.
