Bavarian Sweet Pretzel
A crispy German-style sweet Bavarian pretzel topped with rock sugar and roasted sliced almonds. A delightful treat to enjoy with a cup of coffee.
Ingredients
- 300 g Wheat flour
- 7 g Baker's yeast
- 100 ml Warm milk
- 50 g Soft butter
- 40 g Sugar
- 5 g Salt
- 1 piece Egg
- 60 g Rock sugar
- 50 g Sliced almonds
- 500 ml Water for soaking
- 1 tbsp Baking soda
Instructions
Step 1
Mix flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center and add warm milk and soft butter.
Step 2
Mix until you have a smooth and homogeneous dough. Let rest for 30 minutes to allow the dough to rise.
Step 3
Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Shape each pretzel: roll into a long rope and form the classic pretzel shape.
Step 4
Let the pretzels rest for 15 minutes on a buttered baking sheet.
Step 5
Bring the water to a boil and add baking soda. Briefly dip each pretzel for 15 seconds on each side.
Step 6
Place the pretzels on a baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg.
Step 7
Mix rock sugar and sliced almonds, then generously sprinkle over each pretzel.
Step 8
Bake at 200°C for 15 minutes until golden brown.
