Sweet German Pretzel
Traditional sweet German pretzel with a light salted exterior, soft inside and vanilla glaze.

Ingredients
- 350 g All-purpose flour
- 7 g Bread yeast
- 180 ml Milk
- 50 g Butter
- 40 g Sugar
- 5 g Salt
- 1 tbsp Baking soda
- 1 l Water
- 30 g Crystal sugar
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1 piece Egg
Instructions
Step 1
Warm the milk and dissolve the yeast. Mix with the flour, sugar and salt.
Step 2
Add the softened butter and knead for 8 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Step 3
Let rise for 45 minutes in a warm place covered with a cloth.
Step 4
Divide the dough into 6 portions and shape into sticks. Twist into pretzel shapes.
Step 5
Heat the water with the baking soda. Briefly dip each pretzel in this mixture.
Step 6
Place on a baking sheet and brush with beaten egg. Sprinkle with crystal sugar.
Step 7
Bake at 200°C for 15-18 minutes until golden.
