German Almond and Honey Pretzels
Homemade pretzels with a soft interior and crispy exterior, glazed with honey and topped with sliced almonds.
Ingredients
- 400 g All-purpose flour
- 7 g Baker's yeast
- 250 ml Warm milk
- 50 g Soft butter
- 30 g Sugar
- 5 g Salt
- 1 piece Egg
- 1 l Water
- 30 g Baking soda
- 100 g Honey
- 100 g Sliced almonds
Instructions
Step 1
Mix the yeast with warm milk and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes.
Step 2
Combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, butter, and egg. Knead for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Cover and let the dough rise for 45 minutes until doubled in volume.
Step 4
Divide the dough into 8 portions. Form ropes and twist into pretzel shapes. Let rest for 15 minutes.
Step 5
Bring water to a boil and add the baking soda. Quickly dip the pretzels for 30 seconds on each side.
Step 6
Drain and place on a buttered baking sheet. Bake in a preheated 200°C (400°F) oven for 20-25 minutes.
Step 7
Remove the warm pretzels from the oven. Brush with warm honey and sprinkle with sliced almonds.
